Located on the eastern edge of the Alentejo region, the village of Pias is recognized all over Portugal for the high quality of its wines. Made with grapes from the region, they have a strong appeal among numerous connoisseurs that like to share them as a little hidden secret. This success, of which we are obviously proud, originated some less proper ways of tribute: Not all wines that call themselves "Pias" are in fact made here. So if you want to know the unique characteristics of our "terroir", you came to the right place: the Agricultural Society of Pias, where we produce the original and true wines of Pias.

The history of our wines blend up with the tradition of our "terroir".
The production in Pias of high quality wines began when a visionary named José Veiga Margaça, acquired in March 1973, a set of properties between Serpa and Moura, founding the Agricultural Society of Pias. His passion for the winemaking and the knowledge of Alentejo region, allowed him to break new forms of production and create memorable wines.
For decades he added flavors to the portfolio, won awards and created all the logistics of distribution, transforming the Agricultural Society of Pias an autonomous company and several of its wines references in the Portuguese market.
Today, with a number of farms totaling 800 acres and 30 employees dedicated to the production of wine and olive oil in the parish of Pias, the Agricultural Society remains in the family hands that created it, as the children and grandchildren of Jose Veiga Margaça hold now the tradition and the values he founded.

Built under the guidance of architect Filipe Nobre Figueiredo, the winery of Pias Agricultural Society has adopted over the years the best technology to ensure the quality control of our wines.
The ancient deposits were coated with epoxy and equipped with cooling plates. We have created a large area for fermentation of red wine in stainless steel tanks with temperature control, acquired new equipment for handling and filtering and re-equip the laboratory.
The integration of the winery, the store and the company's offices in the same building complex, as well as the fact of being located within the village of Pias, ensures a close contact of connoisseurs and visitors with our work, our processes and the preparation of our wines.
SAP is open to the world of social responsibility. Collaboration with local schools has been regular for three decades now. We offer placements for students of different levels of education, including young people with a disability. Moreover, the company has supported since 2007, the education of both workers and their children.
SAP also supports financially, several associations that promote culture and sport in the region.

With gentle elevations, varied soil, endowed with great natural beauty, the estate boasts vineyards, olive groves, open fields and ravines, several water points and many areas for hunting sport.
The estate is ready to accommodate all who wish to feel the unique experience of creating a wine from the origin. Here you can see the vineyards, the grapes, listen to stories, taste the wines and the richness of our cuisine. During the harvest, visitors can observe the respect for quality in introducing contemporary methods of production.
